Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Mr BOURMAN (Eastern Victoria) (13:40): Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Those who were here in the last term will understand why this is of interest to me. It is a time we take to remember those that have lost their children, whether through SIDS, through stillbirth or through miscarriage too, because miscarriage is at an arbitrary date, really; it is not an easy thing. It is not something that I would want anyone to go through, but it is actually quite prevalent in society. I know of others in this building who have been through similar things. It affects everyone, and I think we should all, at least for this one day a year, remember those whose lives have been irrevocably changed—that was, I think, the term used—by these happenings, and just do whatever we can to help them along.
