Legistrative Council E-Petitions

E-petition Number
Reject the Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020
The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that the Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020, is unnecessary. The proposed Bill prevents those who want to live the Christian lifestyle obtaining the support they need. The Victorian Government is seeking to regulate Christian activities, banning particular aspects out of ignorance.

At no stage in the last 30 years has any Christian church provided psychiatric or physical treatments in response to homosexuality tendencies. Long ago these forms of treatments were deemed by the Victorian Government metal health services as ineffective and causing more harm than good. No one is forced to pray as this is against the will of the individual.

Christian practices reference deliverance and exorcism, at first these appear to be one and the same ministry, however they are in fact totally different in both their function and outcome. The simplest way to explain the former is that it is a hands-off approach where the latter is a hands-on, physical approach.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council reject the Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Bill 2020, as it is discriminatory against Christians.
