Title
Announce a roadmap for elective surgery
Grievance
The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that the Government needs to announce a roadmap for elective surgeries to the public.

The Premier, the Hon Daniel Andrews MP, said on Sunday 30 August 2020, that he would be announcing an update on elective surgeries when the Roadmap to Reopening is outlined, however this hasn’t occurred.

Reporters on three separate occasions asked the Premier to update the public on the commencement of elective surgeries, to which he has no real answer and says that it will be announced ‘soon’ or ‘within the next few days’.

Victorians are not asking for the Premier to lift restrictions right this minute on surgeries, but we would like some form of communication on the plan for recommencing elective surgeries. A lot of people are still waiting for procedures from before the first lockdown.

Victorians just want the Premier to make this a priority and have a plan, and to give Victorians hope during these uncertain times.
Action
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Premier, the Hon Daniel Andrews MP, to publicly announce a roadmap for elective surgeries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
