Eltham Tennis Club

Ms WARD: Eltham Tennis Club (ETC) celebrated its 50th anniversary on 29 June, providing the club with an opportunity to thank those who had made contributions to both the club’s formation and success. Following on from a public meeting in 1969 the Eltham Tennis Club began without tennis courts or money, yet now has 400 members and seven courts under lights. Congratulations to Laurie Sparkes, who became the club’s inaugural Legend. Laurie has been a valuable contributor to the club since 1969 and has held a number of roles, including president, vice-president, secretary and member of the selection committee. Thank you to all at ETC who helped create such a special night for their members and families and helped create a very special family-oriented tennis club.
