Introduction and first reading

Ms D’AMBROSIO (Mill Park—Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, Minister for Solar Homes) (12:05): I move:

That I have leave to bring in a bill for an act to amend the Renewable Energy (Jobs and Investment) Act 2017 to establish a target of 50 per cent of electricity generated in Victoria to be sourced from renewable energy by 2030 and for other purposes.

Mr R SMITH (Warrandyte) (12:05): I ask the minister for a further explanation of the bill.

Ms D’AMBROSIO: The bill will legislate the Victorian renewable energy target of 50 per cent of electricity generated in Victoria to come from renewable energy sources by 2030, building on the existing targets of 25 per cent by 2020 and 40 per cent by 2025.
