Commencement

Tuesday 7 May 2024

The SPEAKER (Maree Edwards) took the chair at 12:03 pm, read the prayer and made an acknowledgement of country.

James Newbury: On a point of order, Speaker, I want to raise with you a concern about an individual who has been on the precinct very regularly over recent days, who has reportedly said, ‘7 ‍of October is the’ – expletive – ‘beginning of it. You’re going to have plenty of 7 Octobers coming – plenty of it – and the next 7 October is going to … kick your arse’. I am very concerned about this person potentially committing a crime, the threats and incitement of the words that he has used and the fact that he is regularly on the parliamentary precinct.

The SPEAKER: The Manager of Opposition Business can come and see me later in my office in relation to that matter.
