Southern Metropolitan Region

David DAVIS (Southern Metropolitan) (12:43): My constituency question today is a matter for the Minister for Police, and I am very concerned that the state government is about to strip police, PSOs specifically, from railway stations in my electorate. It was a policy of the Baillieu government before 2010. We put them in. They were called ‘plastic police’ by the then police minister; that is what he called them. But they are loved by the community. They do make people safer. People feel able to go to railway stations at night and to the car parks. They feel safer. And these PSOs are being stripped out by this government. They will not come clean about which stations are about to lose the PSOs.

Tom McIntosh interjected.

David DAVIS: You may think this is unimportant, but I think it is very important, so what I am asking the Minister for Police to do is to come clean and publish the list of Southern Metro railway stations he intends to strip the PSOs from.
