Moira DEEMING (Western Metropolitan) (12:55): My constituency question is for the Minister for Transport Infrastructure. My constituent Stephen is legally blind and has contacted my office regarding serious safety concerns on Melton Highway, particularly at the intersection of Sunshine Avenue and Melton Highway. Stephen reports that he has almost been hit multiple times while attempting to navigate this area and is deeply concerned about pedestrian safety. He has also raised concerns about the broader access and safety along Melton Highway for people with disabilities, including the adequacy of crossings and accessible infrastructure. He tells me that the original project scope was reduced, including the decision not to replace the two roundabouts with traffic signals, and he wants to know what measures are currently being considered to improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of Sunshine Avenue and Melton Highway and what steps are being taken to improve safety for people with disability.
