Rachel PAYNE (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:54): (2004) My constituency question is for the Minister for Environment. A constituent of mine is a resident of Hampton Park. Her complaint was one of 1300 received by the EPA regarding odours from the Hallam Road landfill between 2022 and 2023. Waste company Veolia has recently been fined $1 million for licence breaches for failing to adhere to environmental guidelines at this landfill site. The court ruling comes three years after my constituents began writing to the EPA with complaints of odour. Given Veolia’s track record, my constituent holds valid concerns about the company’s commitment to environmental guidelines. So my constituent asks: will the minister ensure additional safeguards are in place to prevent further breaches by Veolia in Hampton Park?
