Legislative Assembly 59 Parliament First Session
5851: Questions on Notice
Dr Read to ask the Minister for Roads and Road Safety —  Regarding the relatively new IGA supermarket at 360 Moreland Road, Brunswick, are there plans for the construction of a pedestrian crossing.
Answer - 19 May 2021

As you may appreciate, the Department of Transport (DoT) receives many requests each year for pedestrian safety projects. All requests are prioritised for funding according to traffic volumes, pedestrian activity levels, nearby land use, the safety record of the site, and the effectiveness of proposed treatments to improve  safety.

DoT has conducted a review of possible pedestrian crossing facilities near 360 Moreland Road in Brunswick and has found that major pedestrian facility improvement works at this location would  be of low priority compared to other similar intersections across the State. DoT will monitor pedestrian activity at or near the vicinity of this location for any future improvement works that improves the safety of pedestrians crossing Moreland Road. Any improvements or proposed infrastructure identified will be considered for funding in a future program in a state-wide context.
