During debate on the Australian Grands Prix Amendment Bill 2025 the government promised to establish an Albert Park advisory committee to properly engage Albert Park stakeholders, including sporting groups, lake users, tenants, local government and traditional owners. More than eight months later local constituents and stakeholders tell me that they have seen no sign of this committee despite major concerns following this year’s grand prix – fair to say one of the most disruptive in its 30 years, including extended park closures, rubbish left behind including several thousand plastic cable ties that the community itself was forced to clean up and a temporary bit of infrastructure that is just still sitting in the park. Park users and locals are feeling totally trampled over, and it looks like this advisory committee is just another broken promise from this government. Minister, when will the Albert Park advisory committee be established? How will stakeholders appointed? How can local rec users and wildlife advocates seek representation and, once appointed, will you meet with the advisory group?
