Renee HEATH (Eastern Victoria) (12:51): My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. Residents and visitors have raised serious safety concerns about the dangerous stretch of road near Belgrave in the Dandenong Ranges, particularly along the Burwood Highway corridor approaching Belgrave. Here motorists face sharp bends, poor visibility and slippery conditions when it rains, causing locals to fear serious crashes. During wet weather, locals say, crashes are common and near misses occur all the time. Many tourists, who are unfamiliar with the road, are particularly vulnerable. Emergency services and residents fear a serious fatal accident is inevitable. Despite repeated complaints, locals report no meaningful safety upgrades. Signage, road surface conditions and hazard warnings remain inadequate. So my question is: what specific upgrades are planned to reduce crash risks for both locals and tourists?
