Wendy LOVELL (Northern Victoria) (12:48): (2109) My question is for the Minister for Education. Will the minister give Wodonga Primary School the courtesy of meeting with school council representatives so they can put their case directly to the minister for retaining their modular buildings which are scheduled for removal in April? Two months ago I asked the minister to intervene to prevent the removal of two modular buildings from Wodonga Primary School which are crucial to inclusive and accessible teaching spaces. The minister has now passed the buck and tried to avoid responsibility by claiming it was the school that selected two temporary modular classrooms for recovery. The school council president has written to me saying the school leadership, the council and parents do not want these buildings removed. They cannot understand why their buildings have to go. Removal of the portables reduces the flexibility of the school and comes at huge cost to the taxpayer when the Labor government already has paddocks full of modular buildings that are not being used.
