Constituency questions

South-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Ann-Marie HERMANS

South-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Ann-Marie HERMANS (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (13:08): (632) My constituency question is to the minister for transport and planning, and I ask: is it standard practice for the Department of Transport and Planning to request the exclusion of key individuals or parties from meetings who have a direct impact on that meeting, like the CEO of a company directly impacted by the Progress Street level crossing removal, who was told not to attend the meeting to address the safety and accessibility concerns and that if he did ‘It would be a catalyst for the meeting to be immediately terminated’? Interestingly, the email was not signed. The instructions given were also that the meeting was not to be recorded. I have been down to look at Progress Street recently and many times before, and it defies logic that this government is progressing with work on an unnecessary and unsafe level crossing removal and has excluded impacted people with genuine concerns.
