Constituency questions
Western Victoria Region
Western Victoria Region
Bev McARTHUR (Western Victoria) (12:48): (306) My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety and concerns the condition of Wallace Street in Meredith in my electorate. This is not some country back road or track; it is the Midland Highway, used by all drivers commuting between Geelong and Ballarat. The Advance Meredith Association conducted a survey to see what they could do for residents. Fixing the roads was the overwhelming response. They are now conducting a comprehensive pothole audit and running a petition to present to the Golden Plains shire, but the Midland Highway is a VicRoads road and between Meredith CFA station and the roadhouse there is a continuous stretch with severe ripples and multiple potholes, probably verging on craters. The road was patched last year but disintegrated just one week later. B-double fuel tankers have to drive over the ripples, with no room to avoid them. They are a serious accident waiting to happen. Minister, when will you fix it properly?
