Constituency questions

Western Metropolitan Region

Western Metropolitan Region

Trung LUU (Western Metropolitan) (12:49): (87) My question is for the Minister for Multicultural Affairs. I have received many inquiries from residents of the Hindu community in my electorate and those across Victoria who practise the Hindu faith expressing their concern and wariness when attending their place of worship following the recent attacks on temples in Melbourne and violent incidents at Fed Square. So my question is: what action have the Andrews Labor government and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs taken to ensure that these temples are safe and those residents of Hindu faith are safe when attending their place of worship? Earlier this year the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir temple in Mill Park was attacked, followed by another incident at the Shri Shiva Vishnu temple in Carrum Downs. The third incident was at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness temple in Danks Street, Albert Park. This is an issue about safety and the right to feel safe, and we have concerns right here.
