Adjournment
Mickleham Road, Mickleham, speed limit
Mickleham Road, Mickleham, speed limit
Ms SPENCE (Yuroke) (19:11): (1979) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Roads. The action I seek is for the minister to provide me with an update on the review of the speed limit along Mickleham Road north of Craigieburn Road. This once-rural road is now a major thoroughfare for thousands of families living in the rapidly growing suburb of Mickleham. As this community continues to grow, many residents have raised concerns with me regarding the appropriateness of the speed limits in this northern section of Mickleham Road, which is currently up to 100 kilometres per hour. Along this stretch there is a school, there are a number of new estates and there are roads that were very narrow rural dirt roads intersecting with the now quite major arterial road, and it is providing some significant safety concerns. I understand that the Department of Transport have been in the process of reviewing the speed limit on this part of the road, and any updates that the minister might be able to provide to Yuroke residents on the outcome of this review would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to sharing them with my community.
