See Yup Temple: The Next 170 Years
Nina TAYLOR (Albert Park) (10:16): It was an absolute delight to be part of the launch of the See Yup Temple: The Next 170 Years exhibition. It also coincided with the Lunar New Year and was funded with the support of a Victorian government multicultural grant. It is really about helping to share the story and the history of the See Yup Temple. It is absolutely extraordinary. It is a great pity it experienced a fire as a result of an electrical fault, and there is some good, very careful restorative work well underway. But it is also a place that stores the memories of ancestors, so people from community can go there to honour them. It is extremely popular, particularly during the Lunar New Year, and there were many, many people going through the temple. It is certainly a treasure and something to really be supported into the future.
