Constituency questions
The SPEAKER (14:55): I have reviewed the constituency questions from yesterday. Standing order 55A states that constituency questions must be related to constituency matters. I have generally allowed constituency questions where the member has demonstrated a substantial link between the information they seek and people in their electorate, provided that link is not trivial or contrived. Yesterday the member for Thomastown asked a broad policy question and did not demonstrate how it was specifically relevant to her electorate or her constituents, and I therefore rule the member’s question out of order.
