Level crossing removals
Level crossing removals
Darren CHEESEMAN (South Barwon) (13:08): It is with some pleasure that I rise this afternoon to make a contribution to members statements. The contribution that I am making is that in my electorate of South Barwon the Geelong rail line effectively becomes the Warrnambool rail line, and in partnership with the federal government we are investing a lot of money to make that rail line much safer. The very first town along the Warrnambool rail line of course is the beautiful town of Moriac, in my electorate, and at that town there is a level crossing. Under the Regional Rail Revival stageĀ 2 we are investing to make the level crossing in that town much safer. Indeed the investment will see the installation of automatic swing gates and new lighting to make that intersection much safer. The beautiful town of Moriac has lived with this level crossing for many generations. It is right in the heart of that beautiful town, and our investment will make the level crossing safer for future generations. I commend the minister for this outstanding work.
