Ms HALL: Ahead of Harmony Day I want to highlight the work of Muslim community leaders and organisations who do so much to promote harmony, diversity and connectedness in Footscray. The Australia Light Foundation connects members of the Islamic community through worship, social activities, education, welfare and employment programs. They also do charity work around the globe. I look forward to joining them at Friday prayers this week. The East African Women’s Foundation provides vital support to women and their families. When they are supported our community wins. Dr Berhan Ahmed, the CEO of the African-Australian Multicultural Employment and Youth Services, responds to challenges facing African Australians. They host an annual Iftar dinner for homeless people in the community.
