This petition of residents in Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Assembly The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the House that grant funds from the Motorcycle Safety Levy are being capriciously applied for and spent by local councils on roadside barriers. This is evidenced by Mornington Peninsula Shire Council’s rollout of motorcycle crash barriers across the Mornington Peninsula — including Arthurs Seat Road in 2024, and proposed installations on Main Creek Road, Browns Road and Purves Road.

Action:

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly calls on the Government to pause Motorcycle Safety Levy Grants immediately, implement a review of expenditure and develop a process whereby councils are required to undertake proper community consultation and transparent risk assessment, before applying for MSL grants.
