Petition Road infrastructure in Eureka

The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that residents, businesses and visitors across the Eureka electoral district rely on safe and efficient road infrastructure for daily travel, employment, education and emergency services. Many roads and intersections within the district experience increasing traffic volumes, population growth and safety concerns, including high-risk intersections, deteriorating road conditions and inadequate traffic management. These issues increase the risk of serious crashes, congestion and delays, placing motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and other road users at unnecessary risk. The petitioners believe that targeted investment in road safety infrastructure is essential to reduce road trauma and support the growing communities throughout the Eureka electoral district.

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to identify and prioritise high-risk roads and intersections across the Eureka electoral district, allocate sufficient funding to upgrade these locations, implement proven road safety measures including intersection improvements, traffic signals, road widening, pedestrian facilities and safety barriers where appropriate, and publish a transparent program of works with delivery timeframes and annual progress reports.
