Petition Review and change the colour of private security and firearm licenses issued by the Victorian Police
louie101@live.com.au started this petition
The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council the standard license bar colour used by the Licensing and Regulation Division of Victoria Police for private security and firearms licenses need to be reviewed.
Apart from the words 'Safe Storage Safe Communities' on firearms licenses, both firearms and security licenses are identical, with gold license bar colouring. A licensed firearms dealer can mistake any other license for a firearms license at first glance. This is a huge issue that needs to be addressed. To get a permit to acquire a firearm you are required to hold a firearms license, but if overlooked, a person can purchase ammunition with any license. We request a change in colour, for example like drivers licenses which show what level you are, yellow for Learners, red for Probationary and blue for Full.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to review and change the colour of private security and firearm licenses issued by the Victorian Police Licensing and Regulation Division.
