Legislative Council Petition: #712 | closes 31 January 2026

afcadinc2025@gmail.com started this petition

The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that some municipal bodies, organisations, law makers and others are advocating for dingoes to be viewed and governed as invasive pests which perpetuates a false narrative about dingoes. An example of this is misinformation about dingoes' status as protected native wildlife and their ecological importance to biodiversity.  Another example involves a landholder group which discredits the reputation of highly esteemed environmental scientists through dissemination of blatant disinformation, which seems to have been AI generated.

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to establish law to impose severe penalties upon council bodies, organisations and law makers that knowingly, negligently and recklessly create and/or spread disinformation about native wildlife including dingoes, which may impede informed government decision making and public understanding of environmental and biodiversity management.
