Petition Funding for arterial road projects in the City of Wyndham

The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that the City of Wyndham is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing communities, with continued population growth placing increasing pressure on its arterial road network.

Residents are experiencing increasing congestion, traffic delays, bottlenecks and safety concerns across major roads and intersections. These issues affect residents, commuters, businesses, freight movements and the broader western suburbs.

Wyndham City Council has also identified several high-volume priority roads that require government investment to improve traffic flow, road safety, connectivity and capacity, including Sayers Road and Old Geelong Road duplication between Palmers Road and Derrimut Road. This also includes the replacement of the existing roundabout with traffic signals at Derrimut Road and Hogans Road, upgrading and duplicating Dohertys Road between Palmers Road and Derrimut Road, duplication of Boundary Road between Derrimut Road and Palmers Road, duplication of Point Cook Road from Aviation Road to the Princes Freeway interchange, upgrade and duplication of Heaths Road between Tarneit Road and Ballan Road, duplication of Ballan road between Armstrong Road and Bolton Road and complete safety works at Duncans Road.

These projects are essential to ensuring Wyndham’s transport infrastructure keeps pace with its current and future growth.

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to commit to funding and prioritising arterial road projects in the City of Wyndham and work with the Wyndham City Council and the community to ensure road infrastructure keeps pace with population growth.
