The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that residents and businesses across the Eureka District rely on safe and well-maintained roads for travel, employment, education, freight and emergency services. As population growth and traffic volumes increase, the community has a strong interest in understanding how road maintenance funding is allocated, which safety projects are prioritised and whether road upgrades are being delivered on time and within budget. Regular public reporting would improve transparency, strengthen accountability and enable Parliament and the community to monitor progress in reducing road deterioration, addressing high-risk locations and improving road safety across the district.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to provide annual public reporting on road maintenance, safety upgrades and transport infrastructure projects across the Eureka District, including funding allocations, maintenance activities, project delivery milestones, expenditure, high-risk road and intersection upgrades, project completion timeframes and key road safety outcomes, with each report to be tabled in the Victorian Parliament and made publicly available.
