Petition Education infrastructure for Victoria's growth communities

The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that many of Victoria's growth communities are experiencing rapid population increases, resulting in significant demand for schools, early childhood education and childcare services. Families in these areas often face increasing enrolment pressures, long waiting lists for childcare, overcrowded classrooms and longer travel times to access education services. Timely investment in education infrastructure is essential to ensure children have access to high-quality learning environments close to where they live and to support the needs of growing communities. The petitioners believe that education infrastructure planning should keep pace with residential development and population growth.

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to increase investment in new government schools, school expansions, kindergartens and childcare infrastructure in Victoria's growth communities, prioritise areas experiencing the greatest population growth and enrolment demand, publish forward infrastructure delivery plans and timelines, and provide regular public reporting on the progress of education and early childhood infrastructure projects.
