The petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that it is unfair to expect commuters to always have a Myki card on their person. Due to this, thousands of unknowing commuters are being fined unfairly. There should be the option for payment on public transport to be made by contactless payment from a credit or debit card account to reduce the thousands of cards going to landfill each year.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to implement the option of contactless payment from a credit or debit card on public transport.
