Appointment of Victoria’s new Auditor-General

Auditor GeneralThe Chair of the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee, Mr Danny Pearson MP, today announced the appointment of Mr Andrew Greaves as Victoria’s new Auditor‑General.

Mr Greaves is currently the Auditor-General of Queensland. He has held this position since 2011.

From 2003 to 2011, Mr Greaves held various roles at the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, including Assistant Auditor‑General, Performance Audit; and Assistant Auditor-General, Financial Audit.

Mr Greaves is an Executive Fellow of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government, a Fellow of CPA Australia, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He also holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University.

Mr Greaves was unanimously selected by the bipartisan Public Accounts and Estimates Committee following an international search and competitive recruitment process.

The Auditor-General is an independent officer of the Victorian Parliament, appointed to examine the management of resources within the public sector on behalf of Parliament and Victorians.

Mr Greaves will commence in the role from 19 September 2016. His term runs for seven years.
