Rate capping inquiry calls for submissions

TownHall

The parliamentary inquiry into the Victorian Government’s rate capping policy is inviting further public submissions.

The inquiry is being conducted by the Victorian Parliament’s Environment and Planning Committee.

“When we first called for submissions last year the rate cap percentage had not been determined,” said Committee Chair, Hon David Davis.

“Now that the Bill has been passed, we are providing the community with a further opportunity to have a say on the impact on service and infrastructure provisioning.”

Public submissions to the Committee are due by 1 April 2016.

“Under our terms of reference we must report every six months on the outcome of the rate capping policy on councils’ viability, service impacts on local communities and impacts on the provision of local infrastructure,” Hon David Davis said.

Further details on the inquiry, including the Committee’s first report tabled in December last year, are available from the Committee’s website.
