Today in the Legislative Council

The Council starts sitting at 9.30 a.m. and General Business takes precedence today. Business likely to be debated is as follows:

(1) Notice of Motion No. 838 standing in the name of Mr Lenders relating to TAFE enrolment and unemployment rates;
(2) Notice of Motion No. 840 standing in the name of Mr Lenders relating to federal education funding;
(3) Notice of Motion No. 796 standing in the name of Ms Pennicuik introducing the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment (Domestic Fowl and Pigs) and Food Amendment (Free-Range Eggs) Bill 2014;
(4) Notice of Motion No. 832 standing in the name of Ms Hartland relating to WorkCover claims for firefighters; and

Wednesday, 17 September, 1997

Premier Jeff Kennett moves the following motion in the Legislative Assembly to apologise to the Aboriginal people... "That this house apologises to the Aboriginal people on behalf of all Victorians for the past policies under which Aboriginal children were removed from their families and expresses deep regret at the hurt and distress this has caused and reaffirms its support for reconciliation between all Australians."
