Open House Melbourne
Each year, Parliament House takes part in Open House Melbourne. Visitors are guided through Queens Hall, onto the floor of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council chambers and then into the Parliamentary Library. They see first hand where Victoria’s laws are made and hear the fascinating history of the building. They find out how Parliament House has adapted to remain a working building used for the same purpose for which it was built in 1856.

As part of the 2020 Open House Melbourne online program, award-winning architect Peter Elliott was joined by Parliamentary Services Secretary Peter Lochert and OHM Executive Director Alison Cleary in conversation about the Members' Annexe at Parliament House. Originally streamed live on Facebook, watch this replay as they discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise when introducing contemporary architecture into a heritage precinct and the nature of the client/architect relationship that informed this unique project.
