3248: Questions on Notice
Martin Cameron to ask the Minister for Education for the Minister for Children —

With reference to the November 2022 announcement of 50 new early learning and childcare centres and the selection of Yallourn North/Glengarry as a location where a service would be up in running by 2028:

(1) When will the location of the Yallourn North/Glengarry site be announced.

(2) When will the Yallourn North/Glengarry early learning and childcare centre be operating.

Answer - 30 April 2026

I am advised as follows:

The Victorian Government remains committed to delivering 50 Early Learning Victoria centres in the areas of greatest need. This will expand access to high-quality early childhood education and care across the state, supporting families in communities with identified demand for additional services. All 50 centres will be delivered by 2032.

Fourteen new early learning and childcare centres opened in January 2026, with a total of 18 Early Learning Victoria centres now operating across the state. Sites for a further 6 centres opening in 2027 have been confirmed for Avoca, Cohuna, Newborough East, Meeniyan, Nicholson and District, and Red Cliffs.

Work continues on the planning and implementation for the remaining 26 centres, including the centre announced for Yallourn North/Glengarry. This involves identifying the specific site for the centre and consulting with local government and key stakeholders about the specific needs of the community.

The indicative opening timelines for each centre will be announced well in advance of their delivery to assist families in the local community.
