Legislative Assembly 60 Parliament First Session
2755: Questions on Notice
Martin Cameron to ask the Minister for Roads and Road Safety —

With reference to the level crossing and intersection at Lloyd Street and Waterloo Road, Moe, where a serious accident occurred on 10 August 2025, five years after residents were promised upgrades:

(1) Given that there has been no update from the Department of Transport and Planning since March 2025, when will the community be informed of the upgrade timelines.

(2) With pre-construction activities taking more than two years, when will actual workers and machinery be on site to commence the upgrade of the intersection.

Answer - 8 September 2025

I thank the member for his question.

As previously advised, the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) will inform the community as pre-construction activities are nearer completion, anticipated in the coming months, at which time construction timeframes can be confirmed.

A key element of the pre-construction phase is the integration of new railway signals with the road design. DTP is currently working in collaboration with V/Line in progressing these detailed designs.

Other pre-construction activities have progressed including finalisation of land acquisition, with possession of the required private land now available when required.

The required telecommunication service relocations have been completed. Designs and approvals of other utility services, including water and power, have been finalised with their relocation to occur along with the road construction works.
