Question on Notice
With reference to the family of Harry Wright, despite
consistent and repeated follow-ups including multiple emails and phone calls to
the Minister’s office since the offer made in March 2025 to meet with the
family, there has been a failure to respond.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Mr Wright and for his death in such tragic circumstances. My thoughts are with them as they grieve this significant loss.
It was a privilege to meet with the family recently to hear directly of their experience. The courage they showed in sharing their story is commendable.
I remain committed to ongoing, direct engagement with victims of crime both through meeting directly with victims, but also through attendance at forums such as the Victims of Crime Consultative Committee. I appreciate the courage it takes for people to share their experiences. It is only through hearing from victims and their families that we can ensure systems meaningfully respond to victims of crime.
