With reference to dedicated palliative care facilities in the Latrobe Valley:

(1) Will the Minister fund the construction of a dedicated palliative care facility in the Latrobe Valley so that residents can die with dignity.

(2) Will the Minister meet with a local consortium that has committed to funding the operations of such a facility once it is established.

(3) Why has the Latrobe Health Advocate's recommendation not been adopted.

Answer - 15 September 2025

The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring all Victorians with a life limiting illness can receive the essential palliative care and end-of-life care they need.

The Latrobe Valley area is supported with specialist palliative care services by the Latrobe Community Health Service, which provides home-based care, and the Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) which provides admitted care.

Outside the hospital, support is also available through the Gippsland Primary Health Network and Gippsland Palliative Care Consultancy Service.

Decisions about health infrastructure are led by service planning and data that prioritises investment on the basis of statewide need assessment
