1911: Questions on Notice
Martin Cameron to ask the Minister for Education for the Minister for Children —

With reference to the 50 new early learning and childcare centres announced in November 2022, Yallourn North/Glengarry was announced as a location where a service will be up and running by 2028.

(1) When will the location of the Yallourn North/Glengarry site be announced.

(2) When will the Yallourn North/Glengarry early learning and childcare centre be operating.

Answer - 28 January 2025

I am advised as follows:

The government is committed to delivering 50 Early Learning and Childcare Centres in the areas of greatest need, with 30 rolling out by 2028, and all 50 by 2032. As part of this commitment, Yallourn North/Glengarry has been identified as one of the locations where a new early learning and childcare centre will be established.

The location for the Yallourn North/Glengarry centre will be announced in due course, once further planning and consultation has been completed. The Department of Education will continue to engage with the local community, including the local council, to determine the most suitable site for this centre.

Further updates on the specific timing for the centre’s opening will be provided as planning progresses. The Department of Education will continue to work with the local community to ensure the best outcome for the Yallourn North/Glengarry area.

I trust this information is of assistance.

Hon Lizzie Blandthorn MP

Deputy Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council

Minister for Children

Minister for Disability
