Legislative Assembly 60 Parliament First Session
1613: Questions on Notice
Martin Cameron to ask the Minister for Police —

With reference to the fixed road safety camera at the intersection of Seymour Street and Argyle Street in Traralgon:

(1) What offences does the fixed road safety camera capture.

(2) Since installation in July 2023, how many fines have been issued.

Answer - 14 October 2024

Road safety cameras are a proven deterrent to speeding drivers and an effective countermeasure to reduce road casualties. Victoria operates a mix of fixed and mobile road safety cameras to address all road environments, and last year commenced the use of new technology to detect illegal use of portable devices and seatbelt offences.

I can confirm that the fixed camera operating at the Seymour Street and Argyle Street intersection in Traralgon detects both speed and red-light offences and has been live since 1 November 2023.

All road safety camera related statistics are published on a quarterly basis on the Cameras Save Lives website - Cameras Save Lives | vic.gov.au (www.vic.gov.au).
