Legislative Assembly Petition: #202622 | closes 31 August 2026

Petition Restore City Loop and Richmond Access for East Pakenham and Cranbourne Line Commuters

krumble9@gmail.com started this petition

Issue:

This petition of certain residents of Victoria draws to the attention of the House that recent rail service changes associated with the Metro Tunnel have removed East Pakenham and Cranbourne line services from the City Loop. Commuters from Melbourne’s south-east cannot directly access key city stations, including City Loop and Richmond, without changing trains at Caulfield or Town Hall. This increases travel time, reduces accessibility, impacts airport travel, creates overcrowding during major events, disproportionately impacts residents, and increases congestion and environmental impacts.

Action:

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly calls on the Government to restore direct access for East Pakenham and Cranbourne Line Commuters to key city stations, including Richmond, Southern Cross and the City Loop.
