The
petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of
the Legislative Council that the State practices a multidisciplinary model of
care that supports individual treatment plans for people accessing
gender-affirming care which is supported by a strong evidence base.
We
support the Australian concept of universal healthcare for all that is based
upon individual needs and is inclusive, accessible, and respectful to all
Australians. Restricting individual rights to healthcare, or interfering in the
relationship between doctor and client, impacts all Australians adversely.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to protect universal healthcare that meets the needs of all Victorians, regardless of gender identity.
