Petition Mirboo North – Trafalgar Road

Issue:

This petition of residents in Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Assembly the state of the Mirboo North – Trafalgar Road and that the area known as the “Thorpdale slip” continues to worsen due to a lack of investment in a permanent solution. The area is subject to constant movement which is pushing the critical road down the hill. Consequently, VicRoads are constantly required to rebuild the road using gravel and temporary solutions. This is a dangerous area for local road users, school buses, heavy vehicles and primary production vehicles that have no alternative route through the area. Thorpdale and the surrounding area is one of the most important primary production areas in our state with more than 70 per cent of brushed potatoes being transported through the area annually. The failure to permanently repair and upgrade this section of road is placing countless Victorians at risk every day.

Action:

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly calls on the Government to take immediate action by providing funding to deliver a permanent infrastructure solution to the area known as the “Thorpdale slip” on the Mirboo North–Trafalgar Road to ensure safety for road users and the local community.
