Snapshot of inquiry
In 2024, the Environment and Planning Committee examined how Victoria can secure its food supply into the future.
It found that demand for the fresh fruit and vegetables is increasing as the state’s population grows. However, urban encroachment into farmland is making it more difficult and expensive to grow food close to Victorian cities.
The Committee’s Inquiry Report on securing the Victorian food supply makes 33 recommendations aimed at addressing these issues.
