The Privileges Committee is authorised by the standing orders of the House to examine and report on complaints made by citizens who believe they have been adversely commented on by a member or members in the House during parliamentary debate. Such complaints are termed 'a right of reply'. The procedure for right of reply is set out in Standing Order 227 and information is also available in Fact Sheet 11: Right of Reply of Persons Referred to in the House. Reports of the Committee regarding rights of reply can be found on the Parliament’s website, using the link to reports above or, for older reports, using the Inquiries link and then selecting Past Inquiries.
