The inquiry heard how learners with disability can be supported to access and fully participate in TAFE programs in Victoria. Amongst other things, it examined:

  • the social and economic benefits of improving access to TAFE for learners with disability
  • the experiences of learners with disability accessing and participating in TAFE programs
  • barriers to learners with disability accessing TAFE and ideas for addressing these
  • the effectiveness of current government and TAFE policies and programs in supporting learners with disability and suggestions for improvement.

We wanted to know what makes it hard for people with a disability to learn at TAFE. TAFE is where people learn new skills. For example, job skills. We wanted to know how to make it easier for people with a disability to go to TAFE.

Received from the Legislative Assembly on 1 May 2019:

An inquiry into access to TAFE for learners with disability to the Economy and Infrastructure Committee for consideration and report no later than 31 December 2020.

On 26 November 2020, the Legislative Assembly passed a motion extending the reporting date for the Inquiry to 30 September 2021.
