Legistrative Council E-Petitions

E-petition Number
345
Title
Remove the mandatory use of QR Codes
Grievance
The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that it is currently mandatory to scan QR codes everywhere. However, many places where mandatory QR codes are enforced already have a system in place to know if a person had attended the venue. As an example, patrons already have to tag on when they arrive at a gym and children are already enrolled on certain days and times at swimming pools. Therefore, there should be no reason to check in on a QR code where a system of contact tracing already exists.
Action
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to only enforce the use of QR codes at places where there is no system of contact tracing already in effect.
