Title
COVID-19 restrictions for weddings held at private properties
Grievance
The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council the need for COVID-19 restrictions for weddings held at private properties to be brought in line with weddings held at commercial venues.

The current restrictions subject weddings held at private properties to private gathering restrictions of 30 visitors. While weddings at commercial venues are only restricted by a density quotient. Many private property weddings are conducted in large outdoor settings, which is widely recognised as a lower risk setting for virus transmission. The indoor dwelling is not made accessible to guests, in settings such as a regional or rural property. Record keeping of guests, vendors and all attendees is also easily achieved.

Furthermore, weddings held at private properties engage the use of many small business onwers and vendors, such as caterers, event hire companies and waste management services. They are often locally run and contribute to the economy of regional Victorian towns.
Action
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Premier and the Department of Health and Human Services to review COVID-19 restrictions for weddings held at private properties and to allow these weddings to be subject to the same restrictions as weddings held at commercial venues where density quotients, electronic record keeping and COVIDSafe Plans are implemented.
