Legistrative Council E-Petitions

E-petition Number
No logging near recreational roads and tracks
The Petition of certain citizens of the State of Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Council that the current VicForest Timber Release Plan shows logging of native forests in Kinglake and the Central Highlands is scheduled to occur in areas very close to recreational roads and tracks where people regularly enjoy hiking, horse riding, cycling and four-wheel driving.

Locations impacted include, but are not limited to, Eagleglen Track in Kinglake, Dom Dom Road in Narbethong, Smyth Creek Road in Warburton, Brahams Road in Warburton, The Acheron Way between Narbethong and Warburton, Section 12 of The Bicentennial National Trail near Toolangi, Black Range Tourist Drive between Toolangi and Murrindindi, Snobs Creek Road in Rubicon, and Mississippi Fireline Track near Big Pats Creek.

We, Kinglake Friends of the Forests Incorporated, believe that forests near roads and tracks should be preserved to maintain the intrinsic value of the forest and its amenity for all users.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to cease plans to log coupes near recreational roads and tracks.
