Welcome to the Victorian Parliament's Auslan page.

About this page

Here you will find resources and information to help make Parliament more accessible to and inclusive of deaf and hard-of hearing community members.

We have just produced a series of short educational reels in partnership with Deaf Victoria. These resources are designed to introduce Parliament and make it more engaging.

They have come about after many years of collaboration and relationship-building between Parliament and members of the deaf community — a journey that began when a group of young deaf people undertook project work with us after participating in the 2017 Youth Parliament as the Deafhood team.

Keep visiting this page for updates on our engagement with Victoria's deaf community.

Our partnership with Deaf Victoria

In 2025 the Parliament of Victoria commenced a partnership with Deaf Victoria to explore opportunities for deepening the engagement with and understanding of Parliament among Victoria’s deaf community. Deaf Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation led and managed by deaf and hard-of-hearing people. Their advocacy, expertise and leadership have helped guide us in developing resources that are truly responsive to the community’s needs.

Timeline

Each of these milestones has brought us closer to where we are today — celebrating Parliament in Auslan.
