Question on Notice

Mr Bull (Gippsland East) to ask the Minister for Education — For several years, the Bairnsdale Secondary College school community has been lobbying for a school crossing to be installed on McKean Street, to ensure student safety along this busy road. Traffic flow statistics from 2019 supported the need for a supervised school crossing. Earlier this year a student was struck by a vehicle, prompting calls by the school council and broader school community to take action on this project. East Gippsland Shire Council has applied for funding under the Traffic Accident Commission Local Government Grant Program but has been advised that funding for a crossing supervisor is required. The Council is unable to fully fund this position.

Will the Minister commit to providing a school crossing at this location and ensure it has the resources to be supervised.
